ACCOMODATIONS
Our home for the week is on a private wine estate nestled in the heart of the Chateauneuf du Pape vineyards. We have the entire place to ourselves, complete with a swimming pool, a large wine cellar, a private chef, and plenty of common areas where you can socialize or relax with a glass of wine. Each spacious suite has its own restroom, luxury beds and bedding, large windows with views of the vineyards or pool, and chic, tasteful decor. By the time our week is over, you will already be booking next year's trip!
ITINERARY
DAY 1 - SUNDAY
Meet-up, Avignon, Chateauneuf
-Meet up and tour in Avignon
-30-minute drive to to our private chateau in Chateauneuf du Pape
-Settle in, unpack, unwind
-Wine and cheese welcome reception by the pool
-Head to the village for a wine tasting and optional walk
-Return to the chateau for a relaxed dinner
DAY 2 - MONDAY
Gigondas and Orange
-Relaxed morning at the chateau
-20-minute drive to the village of Gigondas
-Explore the medeival village of Gigondas, optional hike to a lookout point
-Wine tasting lunch at an exclusive estate winery
-Head over to the village of Orange, which is just a few minutes north of Chateuneuf du Pape to check out the amphitheater, explore, shop, visit a local wine bar
-Return to the chateau to rest up/change
-Dinner in Chateauneuf du Pape
DAY 3 - TUESDAY
Relaxation Day
Chill at the chateau!
-Book a massage onsite (optional)
-French cooking class (optional)
-Rosé by the pool (mandatory) ;)
DAY 4 - WEDNESDAY
St Remy
-Early departure, 35-minute scenic drive to the beautiful Provençal town of St Remy
-St Remy is where Nostradamus was born, and where Vincent Van Gogh painted "Starry Night"
-Wednesday is market day in St Remy so we will wander the famous open air market all morning, meander the shop-and-cafe-dotted cobblestone streets of the old town, enjoy lunch and wine at an outdoor bistrot, and do our best to take in this leafy, picturesque and oh-so-chic village.
-Return to enjoy the late afternoon at the chateau or in our local town square.
DAY 5 - THURSDAY
Cassis and French Riviera
-Morning departure to the beautiful coastal village of Cassis, a 1.5 hour drive south.
-Enjoy a leisurely yacht excursion around the turquoise waters of the French Riviera.
-Lunch at a coastal seafood restaurant, where we will meet up with a local friend who will take us to the afternoon's wineries!
-Visit, tour and taste Bandol and Cotes de Provence wines at two incredible boutique wineries.
-After a home-cooked dinner with our winemakers, we head back to the chateau for the night.
DAY 6 - FRIDAY
Chateauneuf du Pape
-Leisurely morning at the chateau
-Drive 5 minutes into Chateauneuf du Pape for another chance to shop, explore, and/or hike up to the castle.
-Meet up with our local friend and walk together to one of the best cellar/caves in town for a tasting.
-Drive over to our exclusive winery right in Chateuneuf where we will spend the afternoon touring, tasting, and helping out with the harvest if we are lucky!
-Lunch in the vineyard with the winemaker
-Head back to the chateau for our last dinner of the trip and a night of festivities to follow with special guests!
DAY 7 - SATURDAY
Drop-off in Avignon
-One last breakfast at the chateau, pack up and head out.
-30-minute drive back to Avignon
-We can help you get to the train station or find a taxi to get you to your next destination.
